Creating Inspiring Spaces for Every Learner: Estates & Sustainability

Strategic Approach to Estates Management

Our Trust adopts a strategic 'trust approach' to capital projects, recognising the profound impact well-designed and maintained learning environments have on educational outcomes. Working collaboratively with our academies, we identify critical infrastructure needs and opportunities to enhance facilities, ranging from modernising classrooms and laboratories to improving sports amenities and specialised learning spaces. In the last 12 months, significant investment of over £5m has been allocated to upgrading roofs, outdoor learning areas, boilers and heating, classroom renovation, toilet renovations, investment in SEND learning areas.

A further £4.5m will be invested over the forthcoming 12 months, as we continue to transform our learning environments across our estate, ensuring all our pupils have access to the very a high-quality, inspiring environment conducive to optimal learning and personal development.

Facilities Support

Our Trust's dedicated internal facilities team is an integral part of our operational success, providing comprehensive cleaning and maintenance services across all our primary academies. More than just a service provider, this team is a vital part of our Trust's culture, deeply embedded within each academy's daily rhythm. Their commitment ensures that every learning environment consistently meets the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and functionality. By being physically located within our academies and understanding their unique needs, they proactively maintain inviting, well-kept spaces that directly contribute to a positive and productive atmosphere for both pupils and colleagues.

Health and Safety & Compliance

Our Trust's commitment to providing a safe and compliant environment is underpinned by our internal Estates and Facilities Department alongside a partnership with Clear Risk Management for all Health and Safety and wider Compliance support. This strategic, centralised approach ensures an unparalleled level of compliance process alignment across every academy within our Trust. We benefit from a structured and supportive audit process that not only identifies areas for improvement but actively guides us towards best practices.

Environmental Sustainability

A strong sustainability strategy is deeply intertwined with our commitment to fostering opportunity and well-being in the communities we serve. By embedding environmental, social, and economic considerations throughout our academies, we aim to:

  • Create Equitable and Thriving Learning Environments: Enhance the quality of our school environments, making them healthier, more engaging, and inspiring places for all students to learn and grow, regardless of their background or circumstances.
  • Empower Our Communities for a Sustainable Future: Equip young people with the crucial knowledge, skills, and values needed to navigate the environmental and social challenges of the future, fostering resilience and agency within their local areas.
  • Improve Health and Well-being Outcomes: Promote healthier lifestyles through access to green spaces, sustainable food initiatives, and active travel options, contributing to the overall well-being of our students and their families.
  • Strengthen Community Connections and Opportunities: Foster stronger links between our schools and the local community through collaborative sustainability projects, creating opportunities for engagement and shared purpose.
  • Enhance Resource Efficiency to Support Educational Excellence: Implement sustainable practices that optimise resource use, allowing us to reinvest savings into enhancing the educational experience and opportunities for our students.
  • Cultivate Future Leaders and Changemakers: Inspire our students to become environmentally and socially conscious citizens who are equipped to drive positive change within their communities and beyond.
  • Our sustainability strategy is a fundamental part of our mission to ensure that all young people have the opportunity to flourish and contribute to a more sustainable and equitable future for themselves and their communities in the UK.
