Professional Learning

Our Principles of Professional Learning

Our Principles of Professional Learning are the foundational values that guide how every learning opportunity is designed, delivered, and evaluated across Exceed Learning Partnership. These principles ensure that our professional development is meaningful, impactful, and deeply rooted in our core Trust values: Inspire, Include, Integrity, and Exceed.

To ensure these values translate seamlessly into classroom reality, we have evolved our approach to incorporate the latest research on effective professional development. This year, all learning activities across the Trust are explicitly engineered to bridge the “Knowing-Doing Gap”, ensuring that the insights gained during training sessions are successfully embedded into daily practice.

Our Six Guiding Principles

As illustrated in our Principles of Professional Learning Model, our strategy remains firmly anchored in six core principles that drive our culture of continuous growth:

1. Evidence-Informed Practice

Grounding all professional development in robust, proven research to maximise classroom impact.

2. Collaboration and Co-production

Fostering shared expertise and collective intelligence across all Trust settings.

3. Consistency with Flexibility

Ensuring high Trust-wide standards while respecting and adapting to individual local school contexts.

4. Developing Leadership

Cultivating strategic capacity, ownership, and professional standards at every career stage.

5. Focus on Impact

Systematically evaluating learning provision against tangible school improvement outcomes.

6. Embedding and Growth

Prioritising sustained, iterative professional development over fragmented, one-off events.

Our Professional Learning Offer

At Exceed Learning Partnership, we offer a wide and varied programme of professional learning designed to strengthen pedagogy, practice and leadership across our Trust.

Our offer brings together professional development, school-to-school support, action research and collaborative learning networks, ensuring that learning is connected to the needs of our staff, schools and pupils.

For the 2026–2027 academic year, our professional learning curriculum is focused on five core priorities:

Teaching and Learning Excellence – evidence-informed pedagogy and the effective implementation of our shared Teaching and Learning Framework.

Foundational Knowledge – strengthening EYFS and primary practice, with a particular focus on language, communication and phonics.

Impactful Leadership – developing strong organisational culture, effective routines and high expectations at every stage of leadership.

Equitable Opportunities – supporting staff and pupil wellbeing, enrichment and diverse experiences that enable all learners to thrive.

AI and Digital Literacy – developing digital fluency and using future-ready technology to enhance teaching, learning and working practices.
