Hall Cross Academy celebrates A-Level success for the Class of 2026

14 August 2026

Students and staff at Hall Cross Academy Sixth Form are celebrating as Year 13 students receive their A-Level results, marking the culmination of years of hard work, determination and resilience.

The Class of 2026 has achieved a strong set of results, with 82% of entries achieving A–C grades. More than half of all A-Level entries achieved A–B grades (56%), while 26% achieved the highest A*–A grades.

The 2026 results show continued improvement across several key measures at Hall Cross Academy Sixth Form. The proportion of entries achieving A*–A increased from 23.6% in 2025 to 25.6% in 2026, while A*–B rose from 53.1% to 56.2%. A*–C also increased from 81.1% to 82.2%, meaning more than four in five entries achieved a grade C or above.

The proportion achieving an A* grade rose from 8.7% to 9.0%. These strong outcomes build on the foundations established in 2025 and demonstrate the continued progress being made by students across a broad range of subjects.

Across the sixth form, students achieved 59 A* grades and 109 A grades, with strong performances across a wide range of subjects.

Among the standout results, Further Mathematics achieved an average grade of A, while Textiles achieved an impressive average grade of A+. Photography and Art also achieved strong average grades of A-, alongside excellent outcomes in subjects including Mathematics, Chemistry, Economics, English Literature, Geography and Sociology.

Students studying vocational qualifications also achieved excellent results, including average Distinction grades in Applied Science and Sports Studies, demonstrating the breadth of achievement and range of pathways available to students at Hall Cross Academy Sixth Form.

Today is ultimately a celebration of the students themselves, their hard work, commitment and the determination they have shown throughout their sixth form journey.

Beryce Nixon OBE, CEO of Exceed Learning Partnership, said:

“These results represent far more than grades. They reflect years of hard work, resilience, commitment and the high standards our students have set for themselves. We are incredibly proud of what they have achieved and of the determination they have shown along the way.”

The results are also a reflection of the dedication of the teachers, support staff and families who have encouraged and supported students throughout their time at Hall Cross.

Simon Swain, Headteacher at Hall Cross Academy, added:

“This is a particularly special set of results for me, as these students are the final cohort I have had the privilege of seeing through their sixth form journey as Headteacher of Hall Cross Academy. I could not be prouder of what they have achieved. It is incredibly rewarding to see this cohort leave Hall Cross with such a strong foundation for their futures. I wish every one of them the very best for whatever comes next. I also want to thank the staff for the unwavering commitment and support for our students"

As students now take their next steps, the academy is proud to see them progress onto a wide range of exciting destinations, including university, apprenticeships, employment and further study.

On behalf of everyone at Exceed Learning Partnership, we would like to extend our huge congratulations to every member of the Class of 2026. Your results are a reflection of your ambition, perseverance and hard work, and we wish you every success as you begin the next chapter of your journey.
