Secretary of State Commends Exceed Learning Partnership Schools for National Excellence in Education

23 January 2026

Exceed Learning Partnership is celebrating today after four of its academies received formal commendation from the Secretary of State for Education, Bridget Phillipson MP for achieving academic outcomes that rank among the best in the country.

Bentley High Street Primary School, Edlington Victoria Academy, Sheep Dip Lane Academy, and Willow Primary School, who are all part of Exceed Learning Partnership, were highlighted for their exceptional performance during the 2024/25 academic year. The ministerial recognition specifically focuses on the outstanding progress made by disadvantaged pupils, placing these schools in the top tier of educational providers nationally.

In a formal letter addressed to the Trust, the Secretary of State for Education praised the "ambition and commitment" of the school communities, stating:

"Congratulations to you and your team on the excellent outcomes... Your school’s performance places it among the very best nationally, and this is a significant achievement. This success reflects the dedication of your staff and the hard work of your pupils."

A Model for National Success

Beyond celebrating past results, the Department for Education has called upon Exceed Learning Partnership to act as a "system leader." The schools have been invited to share their expertise, champion educational networks, and lead collaborations to help raise teaching standards across the sector.

Beryce Nixon OBE, Chief Executive Officer of Exceed Learning Partnership, expressed immense pride in the collective achievement:

"I am absolutely delighted that the hard work of our pupils and the unwavering dedication of our colleagues have been recognised at the highest level of government. Being part of Exceed Learning Partnership means we strive for excellence together, and this commendation is a testament to the vibrant, inclusive, and ambitious community we have built. While we are incredibly proud to be ranked among the best in the country, our mission remains the same: to ensure every child, regardless of their background, receives the best possible start in life."

Commitment to Future Growth

The recognition underscores the impact of the Trust’s collaborative approach to education. By fostering an environment where "ambition and commitment come together," the academies within Exceed Learning Partnership continue to demonstrate what is possible for pupils in Doncaster.

The Trust looks forward to continuing its journey of excellence, using this national platform to advocate for high standards and improved opportunities for all children.
