Edlington Victoria Academy was delighted to welcome John Healey MP this week for a special assembly celebrating pupil creativity, community engagement, and the academy’s ongoing improvement journey.
Pupils from Year 1 to Year 6 gathered eagerly to discover the results of Mr Healey’s annual Christmas Card Competition, having submitted their festive designs earlier in the term. During the assembly, nine talented runners-up were presented with a printed copy of the final card and a small gift in recognition of their creativity.
The winning design, created by Evelynn Goode from Class Y1/2H, will feature on Mr Healey’s official Christmas card. This card will be shared widely with his constituents and even sent to His Majesty the King. Mr Healey congratulated all the children on their artistic achievements and praised the academy for nurturing a strong culture of creativity.
Emily Clark, Executive Principal, reflected on the visit. “It was a pleasure to welcome John Healey MP into our academy and to share both the achievements of our pupils and the significant developments underway across Edlington. Our children were excited and inspired to learn that their artwork could reach thousands of people, including the King. It was fantastic to celebrate these successes with our local MP.”
